Report_Library Board of Trustees 10 27 16 Carnegie-Stout Public Library Library Board of Trustees Update From the Meeting of October 27, 2016 Present: Patty Poggemiller, Vice President; Mike Willis, Secretary and Trustees, Robert Armstrong, Pat Maddux, Christy Monk, and Jon Trotter Excused: Jenny Weiss, President • The Board approved all library expenditures since their last meeting. September closed the first quarter of fiscal year 2017, with 25% of the year lapsing. Expenditures were at 25% and revenue generated was at 19% of projections. Library CIP requests and the Operating Budget with requested Improvement Packages have been submitted. The Board approved the FY 2018 budget request. • Although downloadable materials have increased 13% in circulation, the check-out of other library materials is down 9% compared year-to-date to 2015. • The Maker Space should be open within a week or two. A Grand Opening is scheduled for January 21. If all donors are available, a private reception will be held on Friday, January 20. • The Dubuque County Library System Board of Trustees is open to a meeting with a C-SPL subcommittee to further discuss collaboration in the delivery of library services. Mike Willis and Patty Poggemiller were assigned to the C-SPL committee. • On October 20 the Library was recertified as a Petal Project building. • The results of an energy audit were presented to the Board. The Library has performed very well in the management of energy resources; however, an opportunity remains to change some lights to LED. Joint promotion with the Telegraph Herald will take place in the near future. • The Board agreed that if an alternate use could not be found for the vending machine library that it be returned to the vendor.
