Meeting Minutes of September 12, 2016
The Board of Trustees of the Carnegie-Stout Public Library (C-SPL) met in the
Lacy Board Room at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2016.
Present., Trustee Christy Monk; Director Susan Henricks and Recorder Denette
Kellogg.

1. Board President Jenny Weiss called the meeting to order at 5:03 p.m.

2. Loan Request for Grant Wood Paintings to the Whitney Museum of Art—
Henricks reviewed a request from the Whitney Museum of American Art located
in New York, New York for the loan of the Library's two Grant Wood paintings,
Victorian Survival and Appraisal from March 2 to June 10, 2018. Henricks
reported that both the Library Art Subcommittee and the Dubuque Museum of
Art, where the artworks are on loan, recommended approval of the loan.
Willis reported that the Whitney Museum of Art is a prestigious museum and it is
an honor for the Library's artwork to be included in this landmark special exhibit.
Willis also brought up the possibility that if the artworks are loaned out frequently
that there may be a negative reaction from those who plan to visit the museum to
see the paintings. Henricks will follow up to ask for the opinion of the museum on
this subject.

Wood, "Victorian Survival"and 'Appraisal"to the Whitney Museum of Art
from March 2 through June 10, 2018."
