Council met in special session at 5:15 p.m. in the Library Auditorium
Present: Mayor Buol, Council Members Braig, Cline, Connors, Jones, Lynch, Corporation Counsel
Lindahl
Absent: Council Member Michalski, City Manager Van Milligen
Mayor Buol read the call and stated this is a special session of the City Council called for the purpose
of discussing Council appointments to various boards/commissions.
Council reviewed the various community/city boards and commissions they sit on and made the
following appointments:
Area Council of Governments — Mayor Roy D. Buol
Conference Board — Mayor Roy D. Buol and all Council Members
County Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP) Committee — Council Member Joyce
Connors
Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau — Council Members Joyce
Connors and Ric Jones
Dubuque Main Street, Ltd. — Council Member Ann Michalski
Dubuque Racing Association — Mayor Roy D. Buol, Council Members Kevin Lynch and Ric Jones
Dubuque Initiatives — Mayor Roy D. Buol, Council Members Kevin Lynch and Ann Michalski
Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency — Council Members Ric Jones and Ann Michalski
Dubuque Metropolitan Area Transportation System (DMATS) — Mayor Roy D. Buol and all Council
Members
East Central Intergovernmental Agency — Mayor Roy D. Buol
Emergency Management Council — Mayor Roy D. Buol designated Fire Chief E. Daniel Brown
Four Mounds Foundation — Council Member Ann Michalski
Greater Dubuque Development Corporation — Mayor Roy D. Buol, Council Members Patricia Cline
and Joyce Connors
Long Range Planning Advisory Commission — Council Member Patricia Cline and Corporation
Counsel Lindahl directed to prepare an ordinance removing the need for an alternate appointment
Operation: New View — Council Members Karla Braig and Ric Jones and Corporation Counsel
Lindahl directed to review the 28E Agreement currently in effect
Regional Workforce Investment Board — City Clerk Schneider directed to obtain additional
information regarding this board
River Valley Initiative Foundation Board of Directors — Council Member Karla Braig
Sister Cities Representative — Council Member Patricia Cline and City Clerk Schneider directed to
obtain more information about the organization
Braig moved that all appointments be approved as discussed and agreed upon. Seconded by Jones.
Motion passed 7-0.
There being no further business, upon motion meeting adjourned at 6:17 p.m.
