RE: Jule Transit Annual Report
DATE: December 7, 2016
PURPOSE
To provide a copy of the Jule's Annual report for FY16 and highlight operating statistics.
BACKGROUND
Jule staff draft an annual report to review successes, new projects, and future projects as a concise way to
communicate the mission and goals of the transit division to the public. This annual report is used when giving
presentations and as a handout for guests and visitors to our facilities.
Annual Report Highlights:
• Since FY2011, Transit ridership is up 39%. Total ridership in FY16 was 553,387.
• Since implementing SMITH Training for drivers in FY14, the number of at-fault accidents has
decreased by 32% and accidents costs have decreased 62%.
• Swipe Card passes were implemented for youth and monthly passes making pass renewal possible
over the phone which saves passengers time and allows improved tracking of ridership.
• FY16 marked the end of the grant for the Nightrider and the beginning of the three colleges paying a
$20 annual fee per student for the unlimited access to Jule services.
• The Jule partnered with the Leisure Services Department to provide Transportation for the Four
Mounds Adventure Camp allowing low-income youth to learn about the Jule bus system and travel to
four parks in the community for their activities.
