Re: Municipal Housing Agency Governing Board
Introduction
The purpose of this memorandum is to request appointment of a Housing Commissioner to the
Governing Board.
Discussion
Due to the resignation of Danise Miller from the Housing Commission, a vacancy on the
Municipal Housing Agency Governing Board has been created. Ms Miller was the designated
Section 8 Program participant member of the Commission, and in that capacity also served as the
member appointed to the Governing Board.
However, another current Housing Commissioner, John Plein, is also a Section 8 participant (who
was not appointed by the Council in that capacity). He is therefore able to serve as the
CommLqsion's member on the Governing Board, according to Chapter 15 of the code of
ordinances, with City Council approval.
Mr Plein has requested to be appointed in this capacity. At its 23 April meeting, the Housing
Commission did approve a recommendation to the Council for appointment.
Action Step
The action requested of the Council is to appoint John Plein as the desigmted Section 8
participant on the Housing Commission. This action will automatically designate Mr Plein as the
Commissioner representative on the Municipal Housing Agency Governing Board, for the
remainder of Ms Miller's original term on the Housing Commission.
